Chemistry

n-Ethylhexedrone is a molecule from the chemical class of cathinones. The term "substituted cathinone" refers to a wide range of substances based on cathinone, the main active constituent of the khat plant. Cathinone essentially consists of an amphetamine nucleus (a phenethylamine nucleus with an alkyl group attached to the alpha-carbon atom) and an oxygen group attached to the beta-carbon atom. Cathinones are also known as beta-ketone (βk) analogs (double bonded oxygen on the β-carbon atom) of amphetamines.
